Event Overview
The Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon takes place in Grand Rapids, Ohio, at Providence Metropark. This event is part of the Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Race Series and is hosted in partnership with Metroparks Toledo. The course is situated along the Maumee River and utilizes the historic canal towpath, which features a surface of crushed gravel and dirt.
The routes are flat and open with stable footing, passing by historic canal locks and a grain mill. Much of the trail is shaded and offers views of the river. Participation is limited to a cap of 175 runners across both distances.
Distances
- 10K: A 6.2-mile out-and-back course from Providence Park toward Waterville with a turnaround at the 3.1-mile mark.
- 13.1 Miles: A half marathon course that turns around just past Bend View Park at the 6.55-mile mark.
Race Logistics
Participants start at Providence Metropark and finish at the Dam Shelter. Registration includes a technical tee shirt and a finisher medal, though a no-shirt option is available to increase charitable contributions. Medical support is provided onsite by Mercy Health - Toledo.
The half marathon distance carries a completion time limit of three hours. While walkers are welcome to participate in the 10K, the event provides gift certificates to overall winners, masters (ages 40-49), and grand masters (ages 50 and above) in both distance categories. The event is held at Providence Metropark, located across the river from Grand Rapids. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
