Trail Running in County Kilkenny

Tory Hill is a mountain running event located near Mullinavat, organized by the Irish Mountain Running Association. This race takes place on a fully marked route that traverses a combination of woods, fire roads, and runnable trails. Participants encounter two visits to the summit cross during the course.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 7.8 km main course with 350 meters of ascent
  • 5 km short course for juniors

The primary route involves a 200-meter elevation gain within the first 2.4 kilometers. This event is part of the Southeast League and is categorized as having easy terrain with a moderate total ascent. For navigation, participants are permitted to use GPS devices.

Strict safety requirements are in place for all participants. Runners are required to bring a Level A basic kit, which includes a showerproof and windproof jacket. These items must be carried or worn for the duration of the event. To ensure runner safety and communication, headphones are not permitted on the course. While the location is accessible via the Tory Hill Trail Head from Mullinavat, parking space is limited, and carpooling is encouraged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
