Timber Triathlon at Lake Icaria
The Timber Triathlon is a multi-sport event held at Lake Icaria in Corning, Iowa. Organized by CHI Health Mercy Corning and Lake Icaria, the event provides participants with an opportunity to compete in several aquatic and land-based disciplines within the park and surrounding countryside.
The event features several participation options:
- Sprint Triathlon (Individual or Relay): A 600-meter swim, a 14-mile bike ride, and a 5k run.
- 5K Fun Run: A scenic trail run around the lake.
- Open Water Swim: A 600-meter swim following the same course as the triathlon.
The swimming portion takes place in the waters of Lake Icaria, starting from the beach area. The cycling segment routes participants through the local countryside, while the run course utilizes the scenic park trails. Due to the specific terrain of the trails, the 5k run does not allow the use of strollers or the presence of pets.
Packet pick-up and check-in are located at Lake Icaria Beach. The 5K Fun Run is open to participants of all ages. The Open Water Swim is part of the Open Water Swim Series. The triathlon is open to both individual competitors and relay teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
