The Summer Sizzle
The Summer Sizzle reaches its 38th year as a road race held on Father's Day in Utica, New York. The event takes place primarily within Proctor Park and the Masonic Care Community grounds. This event offers participants different ways to participate through multiple distance options and formats.
Available event distances and formats include:
- 5 Miles (In-person road race)
- 5 Miles (Virtual race option)
- 0.5 Miles (Kids run)
Participants in the five-mile distance receive a racing singlet with a new design, though size availability is not guaranteed for those who register after late May. The first 250 registrants across all categories, including the kids run, receive a pair of sunglasses and a sticker.
The event features specialized family and partner divisions for those wishing to compete together. These categories include Father/Son, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, Mother/Daughter, and a Couples division. Special awards and prizes are designated for these family-oriented categories.
This race is an official component of several local series, including the Utica Roadrunners Four Race Challenge, the UR Grand Prix, and the Club Cup. Registration is open to the public, with a discounted rate available for members of the local running club.
