Event overview
The Sticks takes place May 28-31, 2026 near Norton, KS on a farmstead outside of town. It is a timed event offering 72-hour, 48-hour, 24-hour, 12-hour, and 6-hour race options. The course is a repeated 3-mile loop over mowed pasture and dirt road with rolling hills and uneven ground. There is an optional 4.3-mile dirt road loop that can be taken at regular intervals. The event is chip-timed and features live tracking updated after each completed lap. The field is limited to 75 participants. Free camping is available at the start/finish area and an indoor shower is on site.
Course services, rules and awards
One well-stocked aid station is located at the start/finish and will be staffed throughout the events. Race food and an electrolyte/carb drink (Proxima C) will be provided; ramen is served at night and brunch and dinner will be cooked. Key rules include no refunds and no bib transfers, a strict one-vehicle-per-runner limit, required check-in with race staff before leaving and after returning to the course, and credit only for full, complete laps. Pacers are permitted only after 24 hours; no pacers for 6-, 12-, or 24-hour entrants. Age rules: minimum 18 to run unless a guardian is present for the entire race, and minimum 21 to drink. Awards include custom belt buckles for ultra-distance milestones (50k, 50-mile, 100k, 100-mile, 150-mile, 200-mile), marathon medals, and a Sticks tank top for all finishers.
