The Spring Thaw

The Spring Thaw is a running event held in Allison Park, Pennsylvania. Established over five decades ago, it is recognized as the longest continuously run race in the state. The event takes place at North Park, with the start and finish lines located at the North Park Boathouse on Pearce Mill Road.

Participants follow a course that consists of counterclockwise loops around the lake. The event offers several distance options for individual runners and teams:

  • 5 Miles individual race.
  • 10 Miles individual race.
  • 15 Miles individual race.
  • 20 Miles individual race.
  • 20 Miles relay for four-person teams in the Open division.
  • 20 Miles relay for four-person teams representing run clubs.

The relay options consist of four segments of 5 miles each. The Open division is designated for teams not affiliated with a specific run club, while the Run Club division is for those competing on behalf of an established organization.

The event serves as a training and testing opportunity for participants preparing for the Pittsburgh Marathon or other spring races. Additionally, the race organizers maintain a partnership to support 412 Food Rescue as part of the event's charitable initiatives. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
