The MTC Severn Way Ultra : race summary
The MTC Severn Way Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon covering approximately 57 miles along the River Severn. The route starts at Travelodge Worcester and finishes at Travelodge Stonehouse, passing through Grimley, Worcester, Upton-on-Severn, Tewkesbury, Gloucester, Epney, Priding and Frampton-on-Severn. The course is described as comparatively flat with a total ascent of 365 metres and total descent of 392 metres.
The event has four checkpoint stations that provide food and drink. Entrants may select either vegan or gluten free options at registration; competitors with other dietary needs must supply labelled food bags for each checkpoint. Events are cup-free so participants should bring a reusable cup.
All finishers receive a bespoke Severn Way Ultra medal and a MTC head visor. Prizes include trophies for the first male and female finishers and additional awards as outlined by the organisers. The listed course record is 11:14:00.
Competitors are responsible for their own travel to the start and from the finish. Navigation using the provided GPX files is strongly recommended because parts of the Severn Path may be overgrown or poorly signed. Entrants must carry mandatory kit; random checks are made at registration and failure to carry required items will prevent a start. The organisers require a minimum pace of 4.0 miles per hour and will remove competitors who fall below this standard. Entry fees are non refundable; deferral and insurance options are described in the event terms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
