The MTC Severn Way Ultra
The MTC Severn Way Ultra is a point-to-point 57-mile endurance run along the River Severn. The route starts at Travelodge Worcester and finishes at Travelodge Stonehouse, passing through Worcester, Upton-on-Severn, Tewkesbury, Gloucester and riverside villages such as Epney, Priding and Frampton-on-Severn. Total ascent is listed as 365 metres and total descent as 392 metres.
The event has four checkpoint stations offering food and drink. Competitors may select vegan or gluten free options at registration; those with other dietary needs must supply and label their own food for each checkpoint. The event is cup free so runners should bring a reusable cup. Navigation aids such as GPX files are recommended because parts of the Severn Path can be overgrown and many sections are not signed.
All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Severn Way Ultra medal and a MTC head visor. The first male and female finishers receive bespoke trophies and the race has a history of Mount to Coast as head sponsor; male and female winners have been provided Mount to Coast shoes in recent years. Entrants must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, map, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. A minimum average pace of 4.0 miles per hour is required; competitors falling below this will be removed from the race. Entry fees are non refundable.
