Event overview
The Scottish Mile Running Challenge in Edinburgh is organised by Blast Running and takes place on Sunday, 14 September 2025 at Silverknowes Promenade, 48 Marine Dr, EH4 5EP. The race uses the coastal tarmac along the promenade and runs alongside the sea. The course is an officially measured 1 mile route with no turns; the race direction is chosen on the day to reduce the effect of headwinds.
Race format and entry
The event offers two categories: an Elite Mile and an Open Mile. The Elite Mile lists performance targets of under 5 minutes for men and under 6 minutes for women. The Open Mile is open to all ages and genders. The event is licensed by Scottish Athletics. Entry fees are listed as £10 standard, £12 for non-members (a £2 insurance levy applies to non-Scottish Athletics members), and £5 for under 18s. An optional handcrafted thistle-shaped medal is available for £5. The organiser requests a minimum donation of £1 per entry to Alzheimer Scotland.
