Late-Season Running at Hudson Mills Metropark
The Original Kroger A2 Turkey Trot is an annual autumn tradition held in Dexter. The event takes place at Hudson Mills Metropark and offers multiple distances for participants of various ages and abilities. The course for the 5K consists of a single scenic loop, while the 10K course is comprised of two 5K loops. This event is walker-friendly, and a variety of race options are available:
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- Iron Turkey (5K and 10K combined for 9.3 miles)
- Mashed Potato Mile (1-mile fun run)
- Drumstick Dash (200-meter run for ages 8 and under)
The event includes specific categories for younger participants, including free entry for children aged 10 and under in the 5K and 1-mile events when accompanied by a paid adult. The organizers also offer a virtual participation option for those who wish to complete the 5K, 10K, or 1-mile distances from a different location.
Additional features of the event include a post-race celebration, a zero-waste initiative, and the presence of a pace team. Participants may also swap canned food items for vintage shirts.
