Event Overview
The Opening Act 5K Run/Walk is a timed 5K event designed to kick off the Carmel PorchFest festival. It is an inaugural event.
Location & Course
The event takes place at 365 Monon Blvd in Carmel, Indiana. The course starts and finishes on Monon Blvd at MidTown. The route goes north on the Monon Trail, west towards Meadowlark Park, south to City Center Drive, and then back north to the finish line.
Post-Race & Festival Connection
After the run, participants can walk three blocks to the start of the Carmel PorchFest festival. The MidTown area is part of a DORA district, which allows for the consumption of adult beverages in a provided special cup within the district. Post-race refreshments, music, and specials from MidTown restaurants are available.
A jazz band is scheduled to arrive after the run to lead a march north on the Monon Trail to the start of PorchFest.
Awards & Beneficiary
The timed event includes age group awards, finisher medals, and an official event shirt. Proceeds from the event benefit the Carmel PorchFest Grant Program, which provides financial support to students interested in the musical arts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
