The Opening Act 5K Run & Walk takes place in Carmel, IN on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The event offers an in-person timed 5K and a virtual 5K option. Course and race features
The course starts and finishes on Monon Blvd at MidTown, proceeds north on the Monon, turns west toward Meadowlark Park, goes south to City Center Drive, then returns north to the finish. The timed 5K includes age group awards, medals and an official event shirt. Post-race features include refreshments, music and specials from MidTown restaurants. MidTown is in the DORA district; participants who partake in an adult beverage may walk around MidTown with a special cup provided by the event. A jazz band will march participants north on the Monon to the start of PorchFest.
Beneficiary
Proceeds benefit the Carmel PorchFest Grant Program, which provides financial support for students in the musical arts for items such as instruments, lessons, schooling and musical opportunities in exchange for volunteer hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
