The Opening Act 5K Run and Walk

The Opening Act 5K Run and Walk is scheduled for September 20, 2026, at 365 Monon Blvd in Carmel, Indiana. The event is offered as a timed in person 5K and as a virtual 5K option. The in person course starts and finishes on Monon Boulevard at MidTown, runs north on the Monon, turns west toward Meadowlark Park, heads south to City Center Drive, and then returns north to the finish.

The event takes place the Sunday before PorchFest and is located three blocks from the start of that music festival. MidTown is in the DORA district; the event provides a special cup that allows participants to walk around MidTown with an adult beverage if they choose.

Finishers receive medals and an official event shirt. Age group awards are included. Post race amenities listed by the organizer include refreshments, music, and specials from MidTown restaurants.
