The Observatory Loop Relay

The Observatory Loop Relay takes place on February 26, 2026, at Griffith Park, 2333 Fern Dell Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90068, US. It is an after-dark trail relay and runners are required to race in headlamps. The event is described as the Leap Day/Observatory Loop Relay and will use the one-mile Observatory Loop.

Format and entry

The race is a team relay with a total of 4 x 1 mile laps per team. Teams consist of two runners who alternate laps and hand off a baton at the end of each lap. Each individual runner completes two one-mile loops, with a break between laps. All participants receive a branded baton.

Registration options include signing up with a partner or registering individually to be matched with a partner. Listed entry fees are $43.40 for team entries and $22.20 for individual entries, each fee including the stated processing charge. Registration opens January 9, 2026 at 9:00am PST.
