The Nick Teddy 5k Presented By Tug Fest-Illinois
The event is a community running day in Port Byron, Illinois, on 15 August 2026. It is named in memory of a local resident who fought pediatric bone cancer, Ewing's sarcoma.
Start and finish are located on the south end of Main Street near Happy Pawz Playground at 414 S Main St, Port Byron, IL 61275.
Distances offered:
- 5K: in-person 5K run/walk.
- 100 yards: Teddy Trot kids run.
- 5K virtual: Ghost Runner option includes a bib and t-shirt.
Registration opens 1 June 2026. In-person 5K registration closes 6 August 2026 and has a fee of $35. The Teddy Trot kids run has a fee of $20 and registration closes 15 August 2026. The virtual 5K opens 1 June 2026 and closes 14 August 2026 with a $20 fee.
Prizes are awarded to overall men's and women's finishers. The 5K age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Adult entries include two drink vouchers. Net proceeds benefit the Nick Teddy Foundation for Ewing's sarcoma research and for local survivor families; the event currently supports or follows 15 local families.
