The Next Loop 50-Mile Challenge
The Next Loop 50-Mile Challenge is a trail event held at Lake Carl Blackwell in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The race follows a continuous format on a trail-based 3.1-mile (5K) loop. Participants complete multiple laps on the course to reach their total distance.
Participants have two primary distance options to choose from:
- 50 Mile Challenge
- 40 Mile Challenge
The event features a 12-hour hard cutoff for the 50-mile distance, which requires runners to complete 16 loops of the course. The race utilizes chip timing, with splits recorded and posted for every completed lap. A single mass start is utilized for all competitors in the distance challenge.
The course is supported by a fully stocked aid station located at the start and finish area of each lap. Runners have access to a dedicated staging area where they can store personal gear and nutrition, allowing for easy access to supplies every 5K. While the event is part of a larger endurance series, this challenge is scored as a standalone race based on overall finishing time rather than an hourly format.
Pacers are permitted to join participants on the course after 4:00 PM. Pacers must check in at a designated station and wear official identification. Only one pacer is allowed to accompany an athlete at a time. The field for this event is limited to 75 runners.
