The Milk Run - Ely, Iowa
The Milk Run takes place on June 6, 2026, in Ely, Iowa, and supports the Give-a-Gallon program that benefits local food pantries by supplying farm-fresh milk. The event notes that dairy is the most requested item at pantries and reports that last year over 420 half gallons of milk were donated to HACAP and distributed to partnering agencies in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K
- 1 mile
Both the 5K and the 1-mile are chip timed. The races are described as family friendly and group pricing is available. There are no awards; every registered runner receives a post-race free pint of Dan and Debbie’s chocolate milk. Strollers are allowed; dogs, bicycles, and motorized vehicles are not permitted on the course. The route uses a public trail, so participants should obey rules of the road and be aware of other trail users.
Packet pickup is available before race day on June 5 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dan and Debbie’s Creamery; photo ID is required and one person may pick up packets for family members if presenting ID. Race day packet pickup is available on June 6 from 8:00 am to 8:45 am outside Dan and Debbie’s Creamery. The start and finish lines are located just outside the creamery. Pre-registered participants are eligible for a Milk Run t-shirt; shirts are only guaranteed for registrations completed by midnight on Sunday, May 17. Dan and Debbie’s Creamery will provide additional event information via email the week of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
