The Memorial Day Freedom 5K Run/Walk, Malverne NY
The Memorial Day Freedom 5K Run/Walk takes place on May 25, 2026 at Connolly Station, 280 Hempstead Ave., Malverne, NY. The event is held on Memorial Day as a tribute to veterans and follows the route of the Village of Malverne Memorial Day Parade.
The course is a two loop route described as fast and flat. Distances offered include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Fun Run for ages 12 and under (capped at 50 participants)
Amenities and participant services include drawstring bags for early registrants, medals for the first finishers, personalized bibs if registered three weeks in advance, free finish line photos, refreshments such as protein balls, brownies, bananas and water, bathrooms at Connolly Station, and patriotic treats provided by All Round Foods. Parking is available in the lot behind the Fitness 19 fitness club. Early registrants receive a packet of seeds from Dropseed Native Landscapes and registered children in the fun run receive a mini American flag, a themed cupcake and a hand made tie-dye bandana.
The event raises funds for local beneficiaries including American Legion Post #44, the Malverne Fire Department, a scholarship in memory of a Malverne Police Department officer, Paws of War, the Steven McDonald Foundation and Crossroads Farm. The organizer partners with a 501c(3) foundation to make sponsorships and donations tax deductible. Registration fees are used toward race expenses and are non refundable.
