The Mangy Coyote 13 Hour Trail
The Mangy Coyote 13 Hour Trail takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Trenton Park in Nova Scotia. The event adopted its current name after coyotes were seen in the park the previous year; it was formerly known as The Backyard Boogeyman.
The event runs for 13 hours. During that time participants may complete as many loops as they choose on a loop of approximately 4.2 km with about 40 to 60 metres of elevation. The course includes a mix of gravel trails and technical singletrack and features a small stream crossing. Unlike a traditional backyard ultra, there are no mandatory start times for each lap and no required pace or set number of loops; participants may run a loop, rest, and return when they are ready.
A staffed aid station will be available with snacks, drinks and essentials throughout the day; participants are encouraged to bring anything specific they prefer. A crew area near the start and finish allows tents for gear and support. Awards include Most Loops Completed with prizes for the top male and top female finishers and a Spirit of the Pack Award for a participant who supports others and brings positive energy.
Registration costs $85 plus tax and processing fees, includes event access, use of the stocked aid station and a finisher sticker. A portion of proceeds will support the Pictou County United Way. Registration fees are non refundable. A volunteer registration option is offered at no cost. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
