The Ledlenser Possum Night Trail Run
The Possum Night Trail Run takes place at Owen Delany Park in Taupō on Saturday 11 July 2026. The event offers night trail courses of 5km, 11km, and 21km that run through forested trails with bridges and after-dark lighting effects. The 11km and 21km routes pass near Huka Falls, where the falls can be heard from the course.
Aid stations provide electrolyte, water and lollies at specified kilometre points on each course; the 21km course also includes chips at one station. The event does not supply cups for environmental reasons, so participants should use a hydration pack or bring their own cup.
Compulsory gear varies by distance. The 5km requires a headlamp or torch. The 11km requires a headlamp, a second light, and a long-sleeved thermal top. The 21km requires a headlamp, a second light, a long-sleeved thermal top, and a waterproof or windproof jacket. These items must be worn or carried during the event.
There are wave starts with self-seeding, and competitive entrants are advised to start in the first wave. A five hour cut off applies to the 21km course. Event facilities include an expo with multiple outdoor brands, on-site food trucks, parking at Owen Delany Park, and official finisher medals with an option to donate the medal fee to tree planting via Kids Greening Taupo.
