The Hoot Half Marathon & 10k Trail Race
The Hoot Half Marathon and 10k Trail Race takes place at Alum Creek State Park in Lewis Center, Ohio. Participants navigate the Rocks and Roots Trail, which features technical terrain including rocks and roots. The event is held during the late summer and includes two primary distance options:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon)
- 6.2 Miles (10k)
The course is designed using specific loops within the trail system. Runners participating in the 10k complete the North Loop in a clockwise direction. Those participating in the 13.1 Miles distance first complete the North Loop clockwise, followed by the South Loop in a counter-clockwise direction, and finish with an additional loop of approximately 0.7 miles.
The start of the race is located on Hollenback Road, situated just south of the local dog park. Participants receive an event shirt and a medal for their participation. Packet pickup is available at a local sporting goods store in Lewis Center in the days leading up to the race, with race day pickup also provided at the state park.
Course closures are enforced to ensure safety. The entire course closes for all participants at 12:00pm. Specific cut-off times apply to the half marathon, requiring runners to begin their second lap by 9:45am and their final short loop by 11:30am.
