About the race
The Great Escape is a multi-distance trail event through the Belgian and Luxembourg Ardennes organized by Legends Trails. Distances offered are:
- 200 km run
- 100 km run
- 160 km walk
- 80 km walk
All races use sections of the Escapardenne Trail plus additional specially marked sections. The race headquarters and finish are at Hall Polyvalent, 22 Route d’Eselborn, Clervaux, Luxembourg. Registration is handled at race HQ and participants must take an organized bus from HQ to their start location; on-site registration at start points is not available.
Entry places are limited by distance and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The event provides a race number, mandatory GPS tracker, well-stocked checkpoints roughly every 20 km, a finisher’s medal, pre-race dinner, hot mid-race meals for the longest distances, post-race BBQ, showers and toilets at the finish, and medical and safety support. Drop bags are accepted with a 10 kg limit and are placed at specified aid stations for each distance. Trackers include an SOS button; activating it will prompt race control to dispatch assistance and will lead to withdrawal from the race.
A comprehensive mandatory kit list is enforced and kit checks are performed. Participants are insured via Wandelsport Vlaanderen. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
