The GIANT 5K Memorial Day Moto Run/Walk
The event is a not timed 5K moto run and walk organized by Ben Davis High School Marine Corps JROTC on the school campus in Indianapolis. A memorial service to honor fallen service members takes place before the run. Participants follow a cadet-led formation run with motivational cadences called along the route.
Participants may run with the formation, join it for part of the route, or proceed at their own pace. The course follows a route around the school campus on hard surfaces, with some grass terrain available along portions of the route. Cadets are positioned along the course at water stations to guide and motivate participants.
Check-in includes distribution of ordered t-shirts and challenge coins to paid participants. Additional items will be available for purchase while supplies last. Medics will be on site and local military recruiters from multiple branches will be present to provide information about service.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Ben Davis MCJROTC. The program fields competitive Drill, Rifle, and Raider teams that have advanced to national competitions; proceeds are intended to support travel and related costs for those teams. The registration fee is listed as $25.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
