The First Step 5K - Grimesland
The First Step 5K takes place at Haven at Blue Creek in Grimesland, NC. The event includes a cross country style course with gravel road and grass surfaces and a route that crosses the property berm. Strollers are welcome for the untimed 1 mile fun run but are not recommended for the 5K. Dogs on leashes are allowed on course.

Proceeds benefit Haven at Blue Creek, a women’s rehabilitation center that provides therapy, holistic health and wellness services, educational and employment support, spiritual guidance, and a range of therapeutic programs including art, exercise, and equine therapy.
Registration fees are listed as $25 for the 5K run and 5K ruck (price increases to $35 on March 7, 2026) and $20 for the 1 mile fun run. Registrants who register by March 21, 2026 will receive an event T-shirt.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female for the 5K run, the top three overall male and female for the ruck, and the top three male and female in multiple 5K age groups (<10; 10-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+). Packet pickup is available the day before at Fleet Feet Greenville and on race day at Haven at Blue Creek. The event is timed by Run The East, LLC.
