The Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge & 10k Trail Race
The event is an overnight trail running program at the Rocks and Roots Trailhead and the Alum Creek State Park group campsite near Lewis Center, Ohio. It combines a 12 hour endurance challenge with separate Sunset and Sunrise 10K races and a free Kids 1 Mile. The organizer is the Rocks and Roots Trail Association.
The overnight challenge uses a looped single track that repeats as needed. Only completed laps within the 12 hour window count toward official mileage. Runners must be prepared to run in the dark on trail terrain; headlamps or flashlights are mandatory and reflective gear, glow sticks and body paint are encouraged. Pacers are permitted after the first 10K and crew tents are allowed in a designated zone at the lap point.
Age rules restrict overnight challenge participation: minors 14 to 18 may run only with an adult present for the duration of the race; children under 14 are not permitted. Packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet Sports in Lewis Center before the event and at the race site on race day. Camping at the group campsite is optional and limited to Saturday night only, with tent sites available for a fee. The event has a no refund and no bib transfer policy.
Included with entry are an event shirt, an event buff and an event pint glass. A pancake breakfast is provided after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
