The Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge
The Firefly Overnight Endurance Challenge is a multi-format trail event at the Rocks and Roots trailhead and the Alum Creek State Park group campsite in Lewis Center, Ohio. The program includes a 12-hour, fully supported overnight endurance challenge, separate 10-kilometer trail races held at sunset and sunrise, a combined double for both 10Ks, and a free kids one-mile race. The course uses single-track trails; it is well marked but will be dark, so headlamps or flashlights are mandatory. Reflective gear, glow-sticks, and body paint are encouraged.
Event distances and formats:
- Overnight Endurance Challenge: 12-hour supported overnight race, only completed laps count
- Sunset 10K: 10-kilometer trail race held at night
- Sunrise 10K: morning 10-kilometer trail race
- Sunset & Sunrise Double: combined scoring for both 10Ks
- Kids 1 Mile: free kids mile on the trail
Race operations note that only completed laps count for the endurance challenge and that pacers are permitted after the first 10K. Crew tents are allowed in a designated lap-zone. Minors aged 14–18 may run the overnight challenge only with an adult on site; children under 14 are not permitted. Course layout is subject to change. Packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet in Lewis Center before the event and at the race site on race day. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Event entry fees increase closer to the event; the kids mile is free. Participants receive event apparel and other event items, and optional group camping is available for an additional fee.
