Event
The Derek Dexter Memorial 5K is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Harrison Township, Michigan. The in-person race takes place at West Playfield, Lake St. Clair Metropark, 31300 Metropolitan Parkway, Harrison Twp, MI 48045. The event includes a 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K run/walk. Participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher award. The course is stroller and dog friendly. A MetroParks pass or a $10 day pass is required to enter Lake St. Clair Metropark. The race organizer will provide scholarships to local high school athletes pursuing engineering who have an interest in running.
Registration and fees
Registration opens December 28, 2025. Early adult pricing includes a promotional rate for the first 28 adult registrants at $28; standard adult pricing is listed as $35 through April 11. Virtual entries are listed at $40. All minors are listed at $25. Onsite registration is noted to be higher and cash only. Packet pick up and onsite registration are available at the West Playfield Shelter next to the Nature Center. Additional course and parking maps are provided by the organizer.
