The Captain's 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile
The Captain's event takes place on November 14, 2026, at McCurry Park North, 180 McDonough Road, Fayetteville, GA. It is presented by the Theta Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Inc. and proceeds benefit the Thomas T.J. Jefferson Foundation, Inc.
Participants can choose among these options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K participation with time submission and a mailed event T shirt
The 5K course is USATF certified, begins and ends at McCurry Park, travels perimeter roads and returns to the park running path, and finishes on a slightly downhill section. The 1 mile course is contained within McCurry Park on the paved walking and running path and is an out and back that finishes on a slightly downhill section. The start and finish lines are located in the park parking lot at 180 McDonough Road, with parking available in the main lot within about 100 meters of both points.
Race timing is provided by a professional timing company using RFID MyLaps equipment; finish and age group results are published after the event. Pre race packet pickup is available for pre registered participants. Awards are offered for overall and age group placings in the 5K and for top finishers in the 1 mile youth division.
