The Bell Lap Classic
The Bell Lap Classic is an open track meet located at Lakeside High School in Ashtabula, Ohio. This event is an all-comers meet designed for participants of all ages and abilities, including youth athletes and masters runners. The competition follows standard track rules and utilizes Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) finish line equipment for all races.
Participants can choose from a variety of sprint and middle-distance events:
- 100m Dash
- 200m Dash
- 400m Dash
- 800m Run
- 1600m Run
- 4x400m Relay
The meet employs a starters pistol for each race. To maintain the track surface and ensure safety, starting blocks are not permitted and field events are prohibited. The infield area must remain clear throughout the duration of the meet. For the 4x400m Relay, batons are provided for competitors. In coed relay teams, women run the initial legs followed by the male runners.
Warm-ups are permitted on the track until shortly before the first event, after which all warm-up activities must take place off the track. The event does not provide physical awards for finishers. Pets are not allowed on the premises, though service animals are permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
