Thayer County Health Services Annual Freedom Fun Run
The event takes place in Hebron, Nebraska, on July 4, 2026, at the Hebron Fire Department location on Jefferson Avenue and coincides with local Fourth of July festivities. The day includes community activities such as a pancake feed, car show, and parade.
Race options include a 5K route and a 1-mile run/walk. The 5K is a mostly flat, paved course routed through the city and may be run or walked. A co-ed 5K relay is offered; the route is divided into four sections with marked exchange zones. Each relay team must include at least one female and teams provide an item to exchange at relay zones. Relay registration is available online only.
The 1-mile run/walk is open to all ages and fitness levels; participants under age 12 are encouraged to run with an adult buddy. Registration is required for all events, including the free 1-mile option. T-shirts are available at no cost to participants who register before June 19. Pre-registration packets are available for pick up at the Korff Fitness Center on July 3 and on race day. Online registration remains available until July 3 at 12:00 pm.
