About the race
The Texel Halve Marathon is a running event with a nautical character held on the island of Texel. The event features multiple distances that cater to different preferences, including starts directly from the ferry or from the island itself. Participants can choose from the following distances:
- Half marathon (21.1 km)
- Quarter marathon (10.5 km)
- Eighth marathon (approx. 5.3 km)
The half and quarter marathon distances offer a choice between a "bootstart" (starting from the TESO ferry) or an "eilandstart" (starting on the island). The eighth marathon begins in the village of Den Hoorn. All race distances conclude in the center of Den Burg. The official start of the main races is signaled by the sounding of the ferry's ship horn.
Registration for the event typically opens in February. For those who do not secure a spot during the initial registration phase, the organization points to an official platform for the resale of starting bibs. To accommodate spectators, the organization suggests taking the ferry from Den Helder and renting bicycles at the ferry port to follow the runners along the course, as cycling on the beach is prohibited.
