Team Red Shamrock Trail Challenge

The Team Red Shamrock Trail Challenge is a trail race in Coralville, Iowa, benefiting the Red Shamrock Foundation. Distances offered include:

  • 10 mile
  • 5K
  • 1500 meter fun run

The event takes place at Coralville Creekside Park and is part of the No Coast Trail Series. The 10 mile course is planned as an out-and-back on mixed surfaces: grass, dirt single track, and paved trail. The 5K uses the same start and finish line with a turnaround at about the 2 mile point. The hilliest section is the first mile, which ascends the grass Cross trail. The route passes under Deer Creek Road and includes the Woodpecker Trail and a segment near the Tom Harkin trailhead.

Aid stations and facilities are available at the start/finish, with water, snacks, flush toilets, and running water. A midcourse aid station near the Tom Harkin trailhead is planned and will include toilets. Leashed dogs are permitted on the course. The race will be chip timed by Nonstop Race Management.

Registration details include a January 1 opening with special one day fees, staged price increases through March, online registration closing March 28, and day of race registration at a higher rate. Pediatric cancer survivors receive free entry via a coupon code from the organizer. There are no refunds or bib transfers; registered entrants may defer entry to the 2027 race before the March 28 deadline.

Swag for 5K and 10 mile entrants includes a short sleeve tee with an option to upgrade to a long sleeve technical hooded tee; shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after March 20. Top male and female finishers receive a pair of running shoes courtesy of Active Endeavors. Age group awards are planned across standard age brackets.
