Te Āpiti Traverse
Te Āpiti Traverse is a trail running event set for 19 September 2026 in the Manawatū Gorge. The course network crosses the valley where the Manawatū River runs between the Ruahine and Tararua ranges, a distinct tectonic divide. Routes pass lookout points, native bush habitat with kererū and tūī, and sections with river views.
The event offers four courses with differing distances and characteristics:
- 42.00 km - the signature, longest course
- 20.14 km - The Ruahine, a strong scenic course
- 14.00 km - Te ahu a Turanga, a mid-distance route
- 10.00 km - The Downhill, a shorter beginner-friendly route
The organiser presents the event as community-focused. It is delivered by the Woodville Lions Club and proceeds are returned to the local community. Event materials note an inaugural edition and a gallery of photos that will be updated before, during, and after the event. Entrant information pages cover terms and conditions, refunds and transfers policy, and mandatory gear requirements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
