Event Overview
The TCS London Marathon is a major international running event and part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Participants take part in a 42.195 km course that serves as a showcase of the British capital. The route includes iconic locations such as Tower Bridge, The Mall, and views of the London Eye.
The event is recognized as the world's largest annual one-day fundraising event. While the general ballot for the 2027 edition opens on Friday 24 April, charity places remain an alternative entry method for those wishing to participate. The event infrastructure includes various support features throughout the course, such as the Rainbow Row section and Lucozade activation points.
Originally founded by Olympic steeplechase medallists Chris Brasher and John Disley, the marathon maintains a large volunteer workforce. Volunteers perform various roles, including route marshalling, distributing water, and awarding medals at the finish line. The event also accommodates wheelchair participants on the same course.
