Taupo Ultramarathon
The Taupo Ultramarathon is scheduled for Saturday 17 October 2026 and runs along the Great Lake Trail in the Taupō region of Aotearoa New Zealand. The route features expansive lake views, mountains, rivers, waterfalls and native bush as part of the trail experience.
The event offers multiple distance options to suit different endurance interests, including a team relay for the longest distance:
- 100 km run
- 100 km team relay
- 70 km run
- 50 km run/walk
- 24 km run/walk
The course includes sections that cross private land and is run uninterrupted over those areas during the event. The event base is described as having a strong communal atmosphere where participants and spectators gather. Organisers acknowledge the contribution of land owners, trail builders and community organisations in making the event possible.
