Takayna Trail 2027 : Bob Brown Foundation
Takayna Trail 2027 is an ultramarathon fundraiser held 26–28 February 2027 in Takayna, north west Tasmania. The event is based at the Men’s Shed in Waratah, which serves as the event HQ and provides accessible toilets, showers and camping areas on site. The trail traverses ancient Gondwanan rainforest, buttongrass plains and varied terrain that includes steep hills and uneven surfaces.
Three course options are offered:
- 22 km a mostly well defined track with minimal navigation
- 37 km longer, more remote with greater elevation and navigation
- 62 km the longest course with substantial elevation and remote navigation
Entry fees and fundraising targets are published for each distance. Entry fees are:
- Takayna 62 : $300
- Takayna 37 : $250
- Takayna 22 : $200
Fundraising minimums are:
- Takayna 62 : $2,000
- Takayna 37 : $1,500
- Takayna 22 : $1,000
Registration opens mid August and often fills quickly. Fundraising closes on 30 April following the event. Drop bags are permitted for the 62 km and 37 km courses. Spectator tickets are available and include camping and vegan meals; meals at RaceHQ are provided on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with limited dietary options. Camping on the Men’s Shed grounds is unpowered. A detailed mandatory gear list is provided for participants, including waterproof jacket, thermal top, mobile phone with Avenza app and required emergency items.
