Tacoma City Marathon weekend : May 2-3, 2026
The event weekend includes multiple race distances on Saturday and Sunday, with the Ghost of Tacoma event on Saturday and the Tacoma City Marathon weekend events on Sunday. Distances offered include:

Sunday’s Marathon and Half Marathon are point-to-point courses that cross the Narrows Bridge and finish at Dune Peninsula Park on Commencement Bay. The Sunday courses are USATF-certified and listed as Boston qualifying. The route passes through Point Defiance Park and continues along waterfront sections, with the marathon turnaround on the Thea Foss Waterway Esplanade.
Race support and logistics
Registration for Sunday Marathon and Half includes a medal and a tech shirt; Saturday 5K, 10K and Ghost entrants receive a tri-blend shirt when ordered by the stated cutoff. Packet pickup is hosted at the Silver Cloud Hotel Tacoma at Point Ruston. The marathon has a 6-hour course time limit; an early start option is available for participants who require more time under specific self-supported conditions. Ghost of Tacoma races are chip-timed but are not certified; that course runs mainly on paved bike paths, includes street crossings, and has limited aid (one aid station at the turnaround). Other services noted include shuttle buses to the start, gear check transport to the finish, finish-line food and medical support, and age-group awards available for pick up at the results tent.
