Tacoma City Marathon : Tacoma, WA (May 2-3, 2026)
The Tacoma City Marathon weekend offers multiple road race options over two days, including a full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 10K, 5K, Kids 1K, and the auxiliary Ghost of Tacoma marathon and half marathon. Sunday’s marathon and half marathon are point-to-point courses that cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and finish at Dune Peninsula Park on Commencement Bay.
The Sunday courses are USATF-certified and designated as Boston-qualifying. The route passes through Point Defiance Park, crosses the Wilson Way Bridge, follows waterfront sections with views of Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier, and includes a turnaround near the Thea Foss Waterway and the Museum of Glass. Aid stations are positioned along the course offering water and electrolytes, and several locations list portable restrooms.
The Ghost of Tacoma event on Saturday is chip-timed but is not a certified Boston-qualifying course; it uses paved bike paths with street crossings, has no mile markers, and provides limited aid at the turnaround. Registration entitlements include a finisher medal for Sunday distances, tech shirts for Sunday runners (shirt orders guaranteed by 4/12), and a collective bib option. Pre-race packet pickup is held at Point Ruston Public Market in the days before the races. The marathon carries a six-hour course time limit and offers an early-start option for participants who require extra time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
