About the race
The SwissCityMarathon – Lucerne is a multi-distance running event held in and around the city of Lucerne, normally on the last Sunday in October. The event programme includes a full marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21 km), two 10 km events (CityRun and CharityRun), kids races and short youth distances. Routes pass by Lucerne landmarks and offer views of the surrounding mountains, with sections through Horw and the old town and a finish arena at the Verkehrshaus der Schweiz. The marathon includes the Swiss Championships for the distance.
The event features live music and designated spectator areas along the course. Organisers publish an event guide and trackable start and result lists; some distances may be on a waiting list when entries are full. The RunLucerne series connects this event with other year‑round runs and preparation offerings for participants. Partners and supporters named for the event include Coop, Generali and Salomon.
