SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne
The SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne is an annual sports event held in central Switzerland on the last Sunday in October. The course takes participants past the sights of Lucerne and offers views of the surrounding mountain panorama. The event includes a variety of running distances and categories suited for individual runners, groups, and children.
Available distances include:
- 42.195 km (Marathon, including Swiss Championships)
- 21 km (Half Marathon)
- 10 km (CityRun and CharityRun)
- 195 m (Maratholino for children)
The marathon starts and finishes in Lucerne, passing through locations such as Horw and Hergiswil. The 10 km CityRun begins at the Horw mood hotspot and leads through the streets of the old town to the finish arena at the Museum of Transport (Verkehrshaus der Schweiz). Live music and spectators are positioned along the route to support the participants. Additional programs such as a runner expo and a framework program for fans are also part of the event.
The event emphasizes inclusivity and social impact. The CharityRun 10 km supports social projects, while the "Never Walk Alone" and "Roll&Run" initiatives provide integrative participation options. Team and company registrations are available for those wishing to compete as a group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
