Run Through the Heart of Switzerland
The SwissCityMarathon - Lucerne takes place annually on the last Sunday in October. The course leads participants through the city of Lucerne, passing several of its most famous landmarks and offering views of the surrounding mountain panorama. Runners experience a route lined with spectators and live music throughout the event.
Participants can choose from several different distances and categories:
- Marathon (42.195 km), which also hosts the Swiss Championships.
- Half Marathon (21 km).
- CityRun (10 km).
- CharityRun (10 km), focused on supporting social projects.
- Maratholino (195 m), a dedicated race for children held in Lucerne, Horw, and Hergiswil.
The route for the 10 km runs starts in Horw, passes through the narrow streets of the old town, and concludes at the finish arena located at the Swiss Museum of Transport. The event includes a supporting program for spectators and a lifestyle expo for participants. Various participation options are available, such as starting as a group in the teams and companies category or participating through integrative projects like "never walk alone" for runners with disabilities.
