Swanley Christmas Caper 4.2 miler
The Swanley Christmas Caper is a 4.2 miles road race held on December 20 and organised by Run Happy Run Healthy. The venue is Whiteoak Leisure Centre on Hilda May Avenue in Swanley, Kent BR8 7BT.
The route begins near the leisure centre opposite the police station on Pioneer Way. Runners leave Pioneer Way, loop left along Bartholomew Way down to the roundabout, and turn left into Swanley Lane. The course follows a long slightly downhill section into Hextable, crosses two roundabouts, then turns left up St Davids Road. It continues past the children’s centre into Puddledock Lane, passes The Ship pub onto Birchwood Road and turns left. Runners pass large residences and a golf club, then take a left into Leydenhatch Lane, a right into Russett Way and follow this to London Road. The finish returns along the straight back to Pioneer Way.
All participants receive a Christmas pudding and a medal. Prizes for the first three finishers are a turkey for first place, a chicken for second place and a vegetable selection with gravy for third place. Water will be available at the finish and bags can be left at the start and finish area. Organisers ask runners to bring pins and encourage Christmas themed fancy dress.
