The Swanley Christmas Caper is a running event organised by Run Happy Run Healthy at Whiteoak Leisure Centre, Hilda May Ave, Swanley, Kent, BR8 7BT. The advertised distance is 4.2 miles. Runners collect race numbers at Pioneer Way before the start. All finishers receive a Christmas pudding and a medal. Prizes are listed for the top three finishers: first place receives a turkey, second place a chicken, and third place a vegetable selection with gravy.
Course and logistics
The course starts near Whiteoak Leisure Centre opposite the police station in Pioneer Way. The route follows Pioneer Way, loops left onto Bartholomew Way, then turns left into Swanley Lane. It continues into Hextable, crosses two roundabouts and turns left into St Davids Road, proceeds into Puddledock Lane past The Ship pub, then onto Birchwood Road. Runners pass residential areas and a golf club, turn left into Leydenhatch Lane, right into Russett Way and out onto London Road, then return along London Road to finish on the straight back to Pioneer Way.
Water is available at the finish. Bags can be left at the start/finish area. Organisers advise bringing pins and encourage Christmas-themed fancy dress. Swanley Train Station is nearby; bus routes 476 and 429 serve Swanley. Parking is available at nearby Asda, Lidl and Whiteoak Leisure Centre.
