Surviving the Rip 5K & 10K Run/Walk
The Surviving the Rip 5K & 10K Run/Walk is an annual event held in Corpus Christi, Texas. The event enters its fifth year and takes place at Water's Edge Park. This athletic gathering serves to raise awareness regarding open water safety and rip current survival.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The course utilizes the local coastal geography, with previous participants noting segments that include running on the beach. Both the 5 km and 10 km options are open to adults and youth participants. Registration includes a T-shirt for those who sign up before the specified late March deadline.
The event is organized by the Je'Sani Smith Foundation. Funds raised through the race are used to support water safety programs at local beaches and lakes. In addition to the run and walk, the event site features various vendors and prize giveaways for those in attendance. Registration fees are structured based on age and the date of entry, with options for individuals aged 5 to 17 and those 18 and older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
