Surviving the Color 5K - Effingham
Surviving the Color is a charity 5K held in Effingham, Illinois at 1325 Outer Belt W. The event benefits the Team of Mercy Newton, IL branch, which offers assistance to those left behind after an attempted or completed suicide and serves surrounding counties. This is the fifth Surviving the Color event supporting the Newton division.
The event includes packet pickup and race day registration, a pre-race ceremony, eight color stations along the course, post-race refreshments, and a closing ceremony. All registered participants receive a Surviving the Color t-shirt (registration cutoff for shirts is September 5) and a custom bib with a printed name (name printing cutoff is August 31). Children aged 8 and under may participate free with a registered parent or guardian but will not receive race materials. Participants must be registered to receive any event materials.
Registration opens June 6, 2026 and closes September 12, 2026. The listed registration fee for the 5K is $25.00. Sponsors are acknowledged as contributors to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
