Surviving the Color - Effingham
Surviving the Color in Effingham, Illinois is a community 5K run held at 1325 Outer Belt W, Effingham, IL 62401. The event is the fifth edition benefiting the Newton, IL division of Team of Mercy. The Team of Mercy Newton branch offers assistance to those left behind after an attempted or completed suicide and serves surrounding counties. The event raises funds and awareness to support that local work.
Race day includes packet pickup and race day registration, a pre-race ceremony, and a closing ceremony. Participants receive a Surviving the Color t-shirt if registered by the t-shirt cutoff, a custom bib with a printed name if registered by the bib cutoff, access to eight color stations along the course, and post-race refreshments. The bib name option can include the name of someone the participant is running in memory of.
Registration opens August 6 and closes September 12. The registration fee for the 5K is $25.00. Children aged eight and under may participate free with a registered parent or guardian but they do not receive race materials. Participants must be registered to receive any race materials.
