Sunapee Scramble
The Sunapee Scramble is a two-lap up/down mountain running race held at Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, New Hampshire on June 7, 2026. The course totals about 9.3 miles with roughly 3,300 feet of elevation gain across both laps.
The first lap begins with about 2.3 miles on a service road before joining trail that climbs approximately 1,500 feet to the summit of Mount Sunapee, followed by a 1.75 mile descent. The second lap starts at the base, follows a service road and the Newbury Trail for about 3.5 miles of climbing with about 1,800 feet of gain, and finishes with the same 1.75 mile descent back to the Base Lodge.
The event serves as the 2026 USATF Mountain Running Championships and will select the USATF Classic Mountain Running Team for the WMRA World Cup finale in Quebec. The Collegiate Mountain Running National Championships for 2026 also take place within this event, with a dedicated collegiate prize purse of $3,000 and additional awards for top college finishers. For 2026 the race offers $30,000 in cash prizes provided by a sponsor.
Additional event details include early bib pick up and a course preview the day before the race, a bib pick up option on race day, and an awards and after party at the Sunapee Base Lodge.
