Sunapee Scramble
The Sunapee Scramble is a classic up and down mountain race held in Sunapee, New Hampshire in early June 2027. Organized by Marathon Sports, the event includes a notable prize purse of $30,000 presented by Brooks Running and is designated as the 2026 USATF National Classic Mountain Championship and the sole selection race for the 2026 US Classic Up/Down Mountain Running Team.
The course begins at the base of the mountain and follows a service road to the summit, then features a fast descent back to the Base Lodge. On the second lap the route again climbs the service road, joins the more technical Newbury Trail to the summit, and returns via a speedy descent to the Base Lodge. The race distance is approximately 9.2 miles with about 3,250 feet of vertical gain.
Event logistics include weekend activities such as early bib pick up and a course preview, with awards and an after party at the Sunapee Base Lodge. Registration opens October 31, 2026. There is no day-of registration for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
