Sunapee Scramble - June 7, 2026

The Sunapee Scramble is a two-lap up and down mountain running race at Mount Sunapee in Sunapee, New Hampshire. The event serves as the 2026 USATF National Classic Mountain Championship and as the 2026 Collegiate Mountain Running National Championships. It also functions as a selection race for the 2026 US Classic Up and Down Mountain Running Team and hosts the New England High School Trail Championships.

The course covers about 9.2 miles with roughly 3,250 feet of elevation gain. On the first lap runners follow a service road then trail with about 1,500 feet of ascent to the summit, followed by a 1.75 mile descent back to the base. The second lap climbs roughly 3.5 miles with about 1,800 feet of gain, joins the Newbury Trail to the summit, and finishes on the same 1.75 mile descent to the Base Lodge.

Event details include a weekend schedule with bib pickup and a course preview on the day before the race, an awards presentation and after party at the Sunapee Base Lodge, and limited comp entries for elite athletes. No poles or headphones are allowed during the race. There is no day of registration. The overall prize purse is presented by Brooks Running, with a separate collegiate prize allocation.
