Sun Devil Triathlon Classic - Tempe Town Lake
Arizona State University presents the 2026 Sun Devil Triathlon Classic on Sunday, November 8, 2026. The event hub is Tempe Town Lake North Park. It is an age group, draft legal sprint triathlon that awards Age Group Team USA qualification spots for the 2027 Age Group World Championships in Hamburg, Germany. Athletes must be at least 16 years old on 12/31/2027 to be eligible for selection.
The race distance is a sprint format: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Every participant must be either an annual USAT member or purchase a one-day membership during online registration. Race timing is provided by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips; chips are worn on the left ankle, must be returned at the finish line, and lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. The race is draft legal and aerobars are not allowed. Age for competition is calculated as of 12/31/2027.
Event activities include a Saturday draft legal clinic (separate registration required), athlete check-in, swim course preview and athlete briefing, followed by race-day transition access, club and age-group races, and awards. Athletes must pick up their own packets and show ID.
Racer amenities include an event t-shirt, finisher medal, post-race refreshments, and awards to the top three finishers per category. There is no parking directly at the race site; public parking is at least a half mile away with named garages and lots provided and bike course traffic closures in effect.
