Sun Devil Triathlon Classic
Arizona State University organizes the Sun Devil Triathlon Classic at Tempe Town Lake North Park (North Shore Beach, 600 N Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ). The event is an age group, draft legal sprint triathlon with a course of 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run.
The race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Every participant must be either an annual USAT member or purchase a one-day membership; memberships are available during registration. Chip timing is used; chips must be worn on the left ankle from start to finish, returned at the finish line, and lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete.
Qualifying spots for Age Group Team USA will be awarded to top finishers by five-year age groups, providing opportunities to compete at the Age Group World Championships in Hamburg, Germany. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group, with age groups ranging from 10-14 through 80+.
Racer amenities include an event t-shirt, finisher medal, post-race refreshments, and awards for top three in each category. There is no on-site parking; available parking is at least a half mile from the race site. Athletes must pick up their own packets and show identification.
