Sun Devil Triathlon Classic
The Sun Devil Triathlon Classic is an age-group, draft-legal sprint triathlon held at Tempe Town Lake North Park. The event uses a sprint format with a 750 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run. It offers 28 World Championship slots; the top two finishers in each age group earn spots to represent Team USA at the Age Group World Championships in Hamburg, Germany.
Racer amenities include an event t-shirt, finisher medal, post-race refreshments, and awards for the top three finishers in each category. The race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon; every participant must be an annual member or purchase a one-day membership during registration.
There is no parking at the race site. All parking locations require at least a half-mile walk or ride to the venue. Suggested parking options include Rio Salado/Ash Parking Garage (201 S Ash Ave), Tempe Town Lake Marina Parking Lot (550 E Tempe Town Lake), and City Hall Parking Garage (117 E 5th St).
Race timing is chip based; chips are worn on the left ankle from start to finish, must be returned at the finish line, and lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. Aerobars are not allowed on the draft-legal bike course. Athletes must pick up their own race packets and show identification. Age for competition will be calculated as of 12/31/2027.
