Event Overview
The Sun City Ultra Triathlon takes place at the Sun City Resort in the North West province of South Africa. This multisport event features several race categories, including individual and relay team options. Participants swim within the resort dam, which offers views of the Gary Player Golf Course.
Race Categories
Athletes can choose from the following distances and formats:
- Sprint Individual/Relay: 750m swim, 20km cycle, and 5km run. Minimum age is 16.
- Standard Individual/Relay: 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run. Minimum age is 17.
- Ultra Individual/Relay: 2km swim, 80km cycle, and 18km run. Minimum age is 18.
- Aquabike Individual: 2km swim and 80km cycle. Minimum age is 18.
Specific entry categories are also available for pensioners across the Sprint, Standard, and Ultra distances.
Logistics and Participation
The event is held on a Saturday, and athletes have access to discounted accommodation at the resort for the race weekend. Registration is divided into early bird, standard, and late entry periods. Depending on the registration timing, participants may receive a race goodie bag and technical race apparel.
A Triathlon South Africa (TSA) temporary day license fee is required for participants who do not hold a permanent license. Relay teams can consist of two or three people. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
