11th Annual Summer Causeway Run and Walk
The Summer Causeway Run and Walk is a coastal event held on the Texas coast, providing participants the opportunity to cross the Queen Isabella Causeway. The course begins at the Port Isabel Event and Cultural Center and finishes at Beach Waterpark on South Padre Island. Participants experience views of the Laguna Madre Bay and the Gulf Coast during the morning hours.
The event includes two main distance options:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run or Walk
The 10K race is chip-timed and features two separate starting options. The Competitive Wave is intended for those seeking a faster pace with less congestion, while the Open Start is available for recreational runners, joggers, and groups. The 5K event is conducted as a community-focused walk and run.
The finish line celebration takes place at Beach Waterpark and includes music, food vendors, and sponsor booths. Participants who register by the early deadline are guaranteed an official event shirt, while later registrations receive shirts based on availability. Group discounts are offered for teams consisting of ten or more individuals. The event is organized by the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce and is part of a local coastal race tradition in the Rio Grande Valley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
