The Medtronic Streets of Galway 8k 2026
The Medtronic Streets of Galway 8k is an annual road race organised by Galway City Harriers. The 2026 edition marks the event's 40th year, having begun in 1986. A permit has been approved for this edition, certificate number 26/123.
The race is a 8 km route running around Galway City, Salthill and the Claddagh. The route is described as fast and flat and takes place on public streets and suburbs. The race starts on Fr Griffin Road and finishes at South Park. Race headquarters is located at the Claddagh Hall at Nimmos Pier.
Entry is managed through Eventmaster. An early bird fee applies to the first 400 entries at 25 euro plus an AI levy or fee, with a standard entry fee of 30 euro thereafter. A postal option is available for participants who wish to receive their race number and t-shirt by post. A race t-shirt is provided for participants and on-course refreshments are available.
Medtronic is listed as the event sponsor for 2026. For safety and insurance reasons the race is restricted to people aged 16 and over on race day. Buggies and wheeled vehicles are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
