The Medtronic Streets of Galway 8k 2026
The Medtronic Streets of Galway 8k is an 8 km road race organised by Galway City Harriers on 8 August 2026. The event marks the 40th year since its inception in 1986 and has an approved permit, cert.no: 26/123.
The route runs around Galway City, Salthill and the Claddagh. The race starts at Fr Griffin Road and finishes at South Park. Event headquarters are at the Claddagh Hall at Nimmos Pier.
New sponsor for 2026 is Medtronic, a global medtech company based in Galway. Entry details include an early-bird fee of €25 for the first 400 entries plus AI levy/fee, with a standard entry fee of €30 thereafter. A postal option is available to receive race number and t shirt by post.
Race entry is restricted to participants aged 16 or older on race day; no exceptions are permitted. Buggies and wheeled vehicles are not allowed. All entrants receive a race T shirt and post-race refreshments. The organiser manages event logistics and race services for participants and spectators.
