Stratford's Half Marathon and Big 10K - Overview
Stratford's Big Half Marathon and 10K are road races based at Stratford Recreation Ground by the tennis courts. The event uses closed roads through Stratford upon Avon and finishes near the bandstand after running past the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre.
Distances
- Half Marathon : minimum age 17 years
- 10K : minimum age 15 years
Both courses use Shipston Road and include sections on the A3400, B4362, Clifford Lane and Milcote Road. The 10K follows the Greenway, passes Lucy's Mill Bridge, Holy Trinity Church, Waterside, Bancroft Garden and crosses a canal footbridge and the tramway bridge before returning to the Rec. The half marathon follows the same corridors but continues along the Greenway to Station Road, Welford Road and Long Marston, completing a loop before rejoining the 10K finish route to make up the distance.
Registration options include online pre-entry, postal entry on request, and day entries subject to race limits. Race numbers and timing chips are posted to entrants before the event. A baggage drop is provided at the finish; use the tear off strip on the race number to label bags. Water is available on course and at the finish with one water station on the 10K and three on the half marathon at approximately 4, 7 and 10 miles. All finishers receive a medal. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers and age group winners, with age groups from 35 in ten year increments. Lodders Solicitors is the principal sponsor. Friends of Stratford Hospital and the Time Out Group are event charities and supply marshals. Photography and post race massage services are provided by event partners.
