Stornoway Half Marathon & 10K
The Stornoway Half Marathon and 10K is an annual island event that has been held since 1984. The 2026 edition marks the 41st year of the competition, which is organized by the Stornoway Running & Athletics Club. The event takes place on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.

- 10 km
The route consists of a mix of tarmac roads, pavements, and forest trails. The course begins by touring greater Stornoway before moving onto the gravel paths of the Lews Castle Grounds. These trails are suitable for standard road running shoes. The half marathon starts and finishes at the inner harbour next to the marina in the town centre. The 10k course begins near the Bridge Centre on Bayhead Street and eventually merges with the half marathon route.
Water stations are positioned approximately every three miles for the longer distance, with two stations provided along the shorter course. Participants in both categories receive a medal upon finishing, while those completing the half marathon also receive a finishers T-shirt. Facilities such as toilets, a bag drop, and a post-race buffet are available for all participants. Shower facilities are provided at the local sports centre, located approximately 800 metres from the finish line.
The event concludes with an evening ceilidh, with ticket proceeds donated to a local charity. Participants traveling from the mainland can access the island via ferry from Ullapool or Uig, or via direct flights to Stornoway airport. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
