Step Up Half Marathon, Relay & 5k
The Step Up event takes place in Storm Lake, Iowa, and features several race options for different age groups and preferences:
- Half Marathon
- Step Up 5k
- Half Marathon Relay (Two-person or four-person teams)
- Youth 5k Entry
- Youth Half Marathon
The Half Marathon course is USATF certified and stays primarily near the water's edge of Storm Lake. The route is characterized as flat with minimal elevation changes. The 5k consists of a loop course that passes by King's Pointe beach and playground.
For the relay events, teams of two or four are responsible for coordinating their own handoff points. Lake Pointe Villa serves as an approximate halfway point, and participants can decide how to divide the total distance between team members.
All races begin at King's Pointe Resort and conclude at Awaysis Park. The course includes six water stations for the half marathon and one for the 5k, providing water and sports drinks. Participants receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt, provided registration is completed by the specified deadline. The finish area includes snacks, music, and refreshments for participants.
