About the race
The St. Louis Catholic School Cougar Chase is the school's tenth anniversary run and community event held at St. Louis Catholic School Track in Austin, Texas. The event stage includes multiple running options on a campus course that uses laps around the school grounds.
Distances offered:
- 5K three loops around campus
- 1 mile one loop for children eight and under
- 400 meters untimed fun run for children eight and under
The 5K is measured as three loops totaling five kilometers. The 1 mile event is a single loop intended to help younger children gain confidence between the 400 meter track run and the full 5K. The 400 meter Chase the Cougar is an untimed kids run on the Ox Emerson track and features the school mascot.
Registration fees stated in the event materials are fifteen dollars for the 5K, ten dollars for the 1 mile for children eight and under, and no fee for the 400 meter kids run. The event uses professional timing and offers awards for overall male and female finishers as well as prizes based on age and school grade. Packet pickup is arranged the Friday before the race for school families with morning of pickup also available starting at 7:30 a.m. The event is paired with a Breakfast with Santa that begins around 8:30 a.m. Proceeds support Cougar Athletics improvements such as throwing pads and a high jump landing pad.
