St. Croix 40 Winter Ultra
The St. Croix 40 Winter Ultra is a winter survivalist race held in St. Croix State Park near Hinckley, Minnesota. Participants travel roughly 40 miles on foot, skis, or a fat bike and carry essential survival gear as they move through a cold Minnesota night.
The race asks competitors to use their survival gear at two separate skill-test points along the route. The event is described in the same spirit as other winter endurance events such as Arrowhead 135 and Tuscobia 160. The course and conditions require night travel and self-sufficiency.
Distances and disciplines:
- 40 miles Ski
- 40 miles Run
- 40 miles Fat bike
Registration opens on August 15, 2026. All registrations are final and no refunds will be issued. The organizer notes that entrants must carry required survival equipment and be prepared for overnight winter conditions in the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
