Sri Chinmoy Marathon - Valley Cottage
The twenty-fourth annual Sri Chinmoy Marathon is a marathon event held on August 24, 2026, at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, New York. The race is organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in cooperation with the New York State Parks System, and all proceeds support the Self-Transcendence 3,100 mile race. The course is USATF sanctioned and certified and is listed as a Boston qualifier.
The course consists of a repaved 2.95-mile loop around Rockland Lake that was resurfaced in 2020. The loop is described as flat and smooth; the marathon is run as nine laps total - one partial start lap of 2.64 miles plus eight full 2.95-mile laps - with all laps counted. Aid stations are placed roughly every mile on the loop and provide water and an electrolyte drink; the main aid station near Race-Day Central offers additional food and snacks. Custom race shirts and custom finisher medals are provided; a post-race vegetarian meal with some vegan options is served.
Registration is handled online and by mail with tiered entry fees; there is no race-day registration and entries cannot be transferred. Packet shipping is available for a fee to US addresses, and on-site packet pickup is offered on race morning. A shuttle bus from Manhattan is available for an additional fee and must be purchased in advance. Runners must be 18 or older; a seven-hour time limit is strictly enforced.
