Event Overview
The Sri Chinmoy Marathon is a road marathon held at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers, New York. The 2026 event marks the 24th annual race. It is organized by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in cooperation with the New York State Parks System. All proceeds support the Self-Transcendence 3,100 mile race.
Race Details
The course consists of multiple laps around Rockland Lake. It is described as flat and scenic, with a repaved and smooth 2.95-mile loop. The marathon distance requires runners to complete a partial 2.64-mile start lap plus 8 full 2.95-mile laps (9 laps total).
The event is a USATF certified and sanctioned race, and it is a Boston Marathon qualifier. There is a strict 7-hour cutoff time (finish by 2:00 PM). Runners must be at least 18 years old to participate.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is available online and by mail. There is no race-day registration. A shuttle bus service from Grand Central Station in Manhattan to the park is available for an additional fee. Shuttle riders must finish the marathon in less than 6 hours.
Race packets can be shipped for a fee or picked up on site. Custom race shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by July 31. Custom finisher medals are given to all finishers.
On-Course Support
Three aid stations are located approximately every mile on the loop, providing water and an electrolyte drink. The main aid station offers fruit, chips, and other snacks.
Awards and Amenities
Awards are presented in the following categories for men and women:
- Under 50: Top 7
- 50-59: Top 3
- 60-69: Top 2
- 70 and over: First Place
A post-race vegetarian meal, with some vegan options, is served starting at 11:30 AM. Free parking is available if vehicles enter before 8:00 AM. Bag check is provided.
Event Policies
If the event is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the organizers' control, it will be converted to a virtual race. Registered participants will receive shirts and medals by mail upon completing the virtual distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
