About the race
The Spreewald-Marathon is a multi-day sport event in the Spreewald region. The 25th edition is scheduled from 22 to 25 April 2027 and takes place in the towns Burg, Lübbenau and Straupitz. The program covers 14 sports and 42 sporting offers across four days.
Distances and some discipline examples:
- 42,195 km Marathon run and Run & Bike marathon
- 21,0975 km Half marathon run and half marathon walk
- 10 km running and paddling options
- 42 km Skate marathon and 23,6 km skate half marathon
Additional formats include walking, hiking, skating, paddling and a 200 km Radmarathon as part of the German Radmarathon-Cup. Paddlers can receive either a Kahn medal (Gold for 42 km, Silver for 21 km, Bronze for 10 km, Blue for 5 km) or a traditional Gurkenmedaille.
The Spreewald is a bilingual region where German and Wendish/Niedersorbisch are spoken; the event name in Wendish is "Błośański marathon" and the slogan appears in both languages. Transponders for skates, longboards, unicycles and kick scooters are loaned on site against a 50 Euro cash deposit. There is a year‑round virtual option that issues medals and certificates.
