About the race
The fourteenth Spirited Women All Women’s Adventure Race takes place in Tekapo, Mackenzie District from 12–14 March 2027. The event is a team-based adventure race where all teams consist of four women who remain together throughout the course. Three course options are offered: Short, Medium and Long, each with navigation, paddling, mountain biking, on- and off-trail trekking and designated mystery activities.
The Long course is an AR Oceania Series points race. Team entry includes a race kit with event T-shirts, drink bottles, finishers glasses, race notes, waterproof maps, control descriptors, timing transponder, use of sit-on-top kayaks with paddles and life vests, event photography and a downloadable event video. Entry limits are strictly set at 408 teams total with specific allocations per course. Compulsory individual gear includes waterproof jacket, warm thermal layers, hat, gloves, swimming goggles, head torch with spare batteries, adequate food and water, mountain bike, cycle helmet, and repair tools; teams must also carry specified team gear such as a basic first aid kit, survival blanket, compass, whistle and one charged phone in a waterproof bag. E-bikes and GPS navigation devices are prohibited unless pre-approved.
The event enforces rules on team separation limits, checkpoint order, equipment return, and outside assistance. Accommodation and local activities in the Lake Tekapo area are described for the event weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
