Spirited Women All Women’s Adventure Race : Tekapo 2027
The fourteenth edition of the Spirited Women All Women’s Adventure Race will take place in Tekapo, Mackenzie District from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th March 2027. The event uses the Lake Tekapo area and surrounding Mackenzie landscape for navigation, paddling, mountain biking, trekking and a series of mystery activities. The region offers local activities such as horse trekking, paddleboarding, hot pools, scenic flights and stargazing.
Teams consist of four women who must stay together through the race. Age divisions are based on combined team age on race day: Open (combined age under 160 years), Veteran (combined age 160 to 199 years) and Masters (combined age 200 years plus). Three course categories are offered with stated expected time ranges: Short course (predicted winner time 4 to 12 hours), Medium course (6.5 to 16 hours) and Long course (9 to 18 hours; Long course is an AR Oceania Series points race). Entry is strictly limited to 408 teams in total with allocations for Long, Medium and Short courses.
Entry fees include a team gift box with event T-shirts, drink bottles, finishers glasses, food vouchers or finish line provision, free event photography, an official event video, use of kayaks and life vests, race notes and waterproof maps, electronic timing and event paramedic cover. Teams must provide key compulsory gear including a mountain bike (e bikes not permitted without approval), cycle helmet, bike lights, head torch with spare batteries, waterproof jacket, warm layers, swim goggles, compass, one charged phone in a waterproof bag and basic first aid per team.
